L.A. Wildfires: Sports Community Shows Support

Fanatics drives relief efforts forward

As the Los Angeles wildfires continue to carve a path of destruction, communities have come together, with friends and neighbors working for the greater good. One brand, Fanatics, has helped launch a relief effort called LA Strong

The sports apparel company and its foundation partnered with 12 L.A. pro sports teams to distribute $3 million in Fanatics merch to evacuees. These include “LA Strong” tees and sweatshirts the company brought to market in the wake of the devastating fires.

Teams, like the Dodgers, LAFC, the Lakers and more, have also donated essentials, including apparel, personal hygiene kits and school supplies at three sports stadiums—Dodger, SoFi and BMO. Several teams opened up their home fields to aid in the effort, with athletes on hand to lift spirits.

In all, 12 professional organizations have pledged more than $8 million to support. Proceeds go to: the American Red Cross, Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, California Fire Foundation, Eaton Canyon Fire Relief and Recovery Fund, World Central Kitchen, California Community Foundation Wildfire Recovery Fund, Team Rubicon and local animal rescue organizations.

Fanatics merch can be purchased on Fanatics.com and official league and team online stores, with funds benefitting the ARC and LAFDF.
