A post shared by Gap (@gap)

I am thrilled to see Gap tapping back into dance. If you somehow missed this glorious celebration of movement, “Get Loose” has Troye Sivan and dancers from the Netherlands-based CDK Company grooving to Thundercat’s “Funny Thing” in their relaxed-fit Gap jeans. The song plus the quirky choreo equals perfection, and I have been eyeballing this addictive ad a lot. So much so that my wife, Rosella, finally asked me what I was compulsively watching. After I showed it to her, she marveled, “This is for Gap?” She was surprised because, “The Gap is known for basics, and this looks very cool. I want these baggy jeans.” I don’t get paid to conduct consumer research, but judging by her reaction, my reaction and the reactions of all of the people who are enthusiastically replicating the dance routine on TikTok, this ad put Gap back in the cultural convo in a big way, and we’re all going to be happily drowning in baggy denim this fall. Dan Martensen directed “Get Loose,” with choreography by Sergio Reis.

That Flirty Chicken Shop Date With Billie Eilish

I was blushing the first time I watched Amelia Dimoldenberg’s flirty Chicken Shop Date with Billie Eilish. And probably the second and third times, too. The chemistry is apparent right from the start when Dimoldenberg lets Eilish know that she took her dietary considerations seriously by ordering the singer “vegan chicken nuggets and chips … because I’m not available on the menu yet.” Elish responds with a smile: “Damn, I was really hoping that it could be you.” Things heat up from there. These “dates” are so much fun to watch when the celebrities go with the flow and have just as much fun with the format as Dimoldenberg does.

Paramore’s Hayley Williams Putting on a Show for Swifties

TikTok has been flooded with videos of Paramore’s Hayley Williams owning the stage while opening for Taylor Swift during the European leg of The Eras Tour this summer. While you can always count on the energetic Williams to give a great performance, these shows have been especially impressive given that the singer is working a massive platform that wasn’t designed for her. It doesn’t spring to life with the lighting, backup dancers, LED screen art or even the fog that accompanies Swift’s awesomely showy show. Relying on nothing but her powerful voice, some funky dance moves, a simple wardrobe (tees, jeans and sneakers) and tons of charm, Williams has been slaying all summer with Paramore’s infectious tunes and a killer cover of the Talking Heads’ “Burning Down the House.”
