Breakfast Drinks Collide in Simply EspressOJ Kits

Spinning a viral TikTok trend

We’re no stranger to offbeat orange juice collabs, like this toothpaste that doesn’t wreck the sweet, sweet taste of OJ. But Simply Orange put a different spin on a TikTok trend that involves pouring a shot of espresso into a glass of juice.

And so, with help from WPP’s OpenX led by VMLY&R, Simply EspressOJ was born, featuring coffee-flavored boba balls combined with the brand’s OJ.

Five hundred kits were created, with two servings and bamboo straws. Consumers could snag kits by claiming a coupon for on Ibotta. The offer was available exclusively to Walmart.com shoppers.

When conversation online swirled around blending breakfast drinks, Simply needed to offer up a bold perspective,” says Sherman Winfield, executive creative director at VMLY&R. “Creating EspressOJ isn’t just about formulating a delicious drink; it’s about sparking conversations and inspiring a new wave of creativity for our fans.”

The remaining 100 kits are up for grabs to consumers who engage with Simply Orange on Instagram. Winners will be selected based on their interaction with the brand.

We decided to see what the fuss was about and merged our breakfast beverages. It wasn’t awful, but we’ve decided that espresso goes best poured over ice cream.
