Damson Idris and Teyana Taylor Star in Hennessy's Quirky Campaign
Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam's first work for the brand
Sure, you can drink Hennessy straight or on the rocks. But do consider the cognac brand for your cocktails, too. So says an eccentric campaign from Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam.
“Made for More” stars actor Damson Idris and singer/actress Teyana Taylor in offbeat ads that play up Hennessy’s versatility. Directed by Andreas Nilsson, each spot offers viewers a different cocktail option with the Big H as the main ingredient.
First, a game of croquet interrupted by a lawn mower equipped with the right stuff for a margarita:
And naught goes better with a spirited game of backgammon than a Hennessy honey highball:
“We wanted to treat the making of these drinks in rather unexpected places and ways, like it was the most natural thing in the world,” says Zeynep Orbay, creative director at W+K Amsterdam. “There’s fun in never acknowledging the absurdity of a situation or explaining why something happens. The work, we felt, should almost feel like a cocktail in itself—a mashup of people, places and tones, that all easily come together to communicate this sense of ‘more.'”
“It was a unique and amazing experience to work with Andreas Nilsson,” Orbay tells Muse. “He shot each film on his phone every morning before we started the actual shoot. It made the whole process seamless.”
The agency also worked with photographer Micaiah Carter on print and OOH, running in New York, Miami, Los Angeles, London and Berlin.
