Dove Focus-Group Spoof Makes 'Moist' a 4-Letter Word

There's a jokey jingle, too

Will Mrs. Moist be sliding into more Dove commercials anytime soon? Probably not.

So, we’ll have to savor her awkward appearance in a :30 from Maximum Effort that aired during yesterday’s Saturday Night Live 50th Anniversary Special.

Though the spot plays almost like an SNL ad spoof, it’s a real commercial for Dove’s new Deep Moisture Body Wash.

Seems a “focus group” gets into a lather about the word “moist.”

Dry humor? Well, it’s a tad sophomoric and slickly in sync with the SNL ethos.

“We’re so excited to debut our first comedic ad,” says Kathryn Fernandez, head of Dove purpose and engagement at Unilever N.A. “While the word ‘moist’ might be polarizing, we can all agree that we love moisture.”
