Volvo Trucks Stacked Four Trucks on Top of Each Other in Its Latest Bit of Lunacy
Directed by Andreas Nilsson of 'Epic Split' fame
It’s been more than six years since Volvo Trucks unleashed “The Epic Split,” the most lauded of its famous stunt-based commercials. Now, the company is reuniting with “Epic Split” director Andreas Nilsson to create … an epic stack.
Nilsson worked with Volvo Trucks engineers, agency Forsman & Bodenfors and production company Bacon on a ludicrous new stunt, in which they stacked four new Volvo Trucks vehicles on top of each other and drove them down a rainy road at night, to demonstrate their power and strength.
Literally topping things off, a man appears at the very top of the stack. Sadly, it’s not Jean-Claude Van Damme, but it’s someone even more on brand.
The film—amusingly overdone with its wolves, lightning and smoke effects—drops a day before Volvo introduces the latest incarnation of its heavy duty range in Europe, which includes the Volvo FH, Volvo FH16, Volvo FM and Volvo FMX. Roger Alm, Volvo Trucks president, hasn’t been upgraded—but even in his original version, he clearly has nerves of steel.
The film was shot late last year on a testing ground near Volvo’s Gothenburg, Sweden, headquarters. Everything was done in camera, as this BTS video shows:
Below, revisit “The Epic Split” in all its glory as well.
