In Canada, Skittles Lovers 'MFFLP the Rainbow'

A mouthful from Middle Child

Skittles Canada wants fans to “MFFLP the Rainbow.” But first, we need to know how to pronounce it and what it actually means!

Pronounced MAH-FULP and meant to mimic the sound of talking with a mouthful of Skittles, the spot is an ode to JOMO and relaxing. It encourages Gen Zs to enjoy slow summer days before the season’s gone.

Middle Child enlisted Creed Bratton to show how it’s done. While on a secret vacation, he throws a handful of Skittles in his mouth and starts talking gibberish. A quick way to end a call with your boss! And when Creed’s neighbor wants to borrow his grill, he responds with mumbles, grunts, hand gestures and a slammed door.

“According to numerous online forums, a popular trend among Skittles fans is the communal joy of eating Skittles by the handful. We thought about how having a mouthful of Skittles can provide a playful escape from social interactions,” says Patrick Zeng, marketing director at Skittles parent Mars Canada. “This aligns with Skittles’ brand essence of providing a fun and flavorful escape from reality, encouraging people to take a break and enjoy life’s moments, especially during the busy summer months.”

The mockumentary-style spot will live on Creed’s and the brand’s social channels. Canadians can share how they “MFFLP The Rainbow” by tagging @Skittles and using #MFFLPTheRainbow. A visit to skittlesooo.ca offers unique OOO messages and a chance to win a grand prize of up to $10,000 towards a summer escape.

“Known best for his role in one of North America’s most famed TV comedies [The Office], Creed humorously depicted an eccentric attitude and aversion to work, making him an ideal partner to connect with the Gen Z demographic,” Zeng tells Muse.

“Our favorite part was shooting the moose scene. As Canadians, the moose is a quintessential animal. Training a native Californian like Creed on the different sounds and mannerisms of the moose was hilarious. Creed put his own spin on it, creating some unforgettable and funny moments.”
