Shaggy Space Alien Really Likes Totino's Pizza Rolls
He's less thrilled with co-stars Tim Robinson and Sam Richardson
If space aliens ever trek to Earth, they’ll be searching for one thing. Obviously, that’s Totino’s pizza rolls.
This week, the brand follows its wonderfully wacky summer breakfast spots with ads starring “Chazmo,” an ET knockoff with a deadpan attitude.
Tim Robinson and Sam Richardson from the Netflix sketch comedy show I Think You Should Leave show up, too.
Those seeking New Yorker-style japes can blast off. This stuff’s just silly fun. We’d rate it an 8 out of 10 on the smile-o-meter.
In a universe where so many supposedly amusing ads crash land, that’s something to phone home about.
It’s almost like Chazmo views our consumer-driven civilization with complete disdain. Sweet!
Dentsu U.S. worked with Zach Kahn and Alice Mathias (co-creator and director of I Think Should Leave) on campaign development.
The team strove to deliver on that show’s surreal tone, which jibes with its own weird promos of late, Totino’s brand experience manager Taylor Roseberry tells Muse.
“We were thrilled by how real-life best friends and co-stars Tim Robinson and Sam Richardson were able to bring their entertainment-first approach to ‘Chazmo Goes Home,'” she says. “They brought the authenticity we were looking for and made the campaign feel like an extension of the comedy they’re known for. It was clear from the moment Tim and Sam stepped on set that they had such great chemistry and loved working together.”
Chazmo gets the best lines. He’s such a little wise-guy.
The work airs this month, mainly online, across platforms from Paramount, Hulu, Peacock and Vix.
UFO humor is all the craze of late. Other examples include Moonpies temping alien life forms; Lexington, Ky., luring tourists from other worlds; and a German state recruiting workers from … out there.
