Design a Cool Movie Poster, and Zach Braff Will Make a Movie for It

Adobe puts the key art first

Here’s a fun project for aspiring key art designers.

Adobe has organized a contest called “Movie Poster Movie,” in which it’s inviting college students to design a poster for a nonexistent movie they’ve dreamed up. Then, Adobe and actor Zach Braff will pick their favorite poster, and Braff will write and direct a three- to five-minute short film based off it.

The chicken-or-egg idea was hatched with help from creative agency Pereira O’Dell. “This generation has taught us creativity is everywhere. Adobe is just giving them the tools to do it bigger than they ever thought they could,” says PJ Pereira, creative chairman of Pereira O’Dell.

The campaign kicked off on Monday with this video:

“This initiative is so interesting and exciting because it’s giving students direct access to a world that is otherwise extremely hard to break into,” Braff said in a statement. “I have always said that making short films is the best education a film student can have. Together, the winning student and I will create something completely original. The student will create an original poster, and from there, I will bring the idea to life through a short film.”

The entry period runs through Nov. 30, and the film will go live in March.
