Nutritious is a recording artist, DJ, producer and A&R pro at Liquid Culture Records.

As a DJ, highlights include gigs at the Whitney Museum of American Art, Pikes Ibiza, Rodarte for New York Fashion Week and international tours with Mark Farina. He held the first residency at the former Save the Robots space for all-night, all-vinyl Saturday sets in NYC’s East Village.

Nutritious’ releases have hit Beatport’s Top 5, SiriusXM Chill’s peak rotation and other charts worldwide.

He is a contributing author to the New York Times bestseller Living Well and a founding team member of DoubleBlind Magazine.

In addition, he has helped raise over $150,000 for the National Down Syndrome Society and supported Bailey House, Last Prisoner Project and Boys & Girls Club Malibu.

We spent two minutes with Nutritious to learn more about his background, his creative inspirations and recent work he’s admired.

Nutritious, tell us …

Where you grew up, and where you live now.

Between New York and Florida.

Your earliest musical memory.

Toddler. Dropping the needle on Walter Murphy on my parents’ ’70s console stereo. I would try to DJ and scratch the records.

Your favorite bands/musicians today.

That’s the rub—as a DJ, I hope you’ll come to a show to find out. Or listen to me on the radio. You can also follow our ever-growing “We Are Liquid Culture” playlist on Spotify featuring label artists and those who inspire.

One of your favorite projects you’ve ever worked on.

“Blurs” is fun. John Van Hamersveld did the art. I released it with one of my favorite labels, Paper Recordings. Wrote and produced the whole thing during the summer, at the beach, cliffside in Malibu.

A recent project you’re proud of.

I produced and released 13 songs last year and I’m in the studio now working on more. I just released “Freefall.” Three songs on Liquid Culture, already in rotation on SiriusXM Chill with support from over 115 DJs, including Jody Wisternoff, Richie Hawtin and Marco Carola. Features in Mixmag and Metal Magazine. It’s the deepest thing I’ve made to date.

One thing about how the music world is evolving that you’re excited about.

AI is forming its own community while the rest of us keep it real.

Someone else’s work, in music or beyond, that you admired lately.

I adore Rick Rubin. My partner Zoe Wilder. Our incredible team. The good people at other record labels I work with: Ben Davis, Pete Jenkinson, Chris Massey. The genius multidisciplinary artists on our Liquid Culture label.

A book, movie, TV show or podcast you recently found inspiring.

Most things Katt Williams.

An artist you admire outside the world of music.

I’m a fan of Miro, Picasso, Dali, Murakami, John Van Hamersveld and Basquiat.

Your favorite fictional character.

Dr. Octagon.

Someone worth following in social media.

Nikki Howard, “Alma” cover star.

Your main strength as a marketer/creative.

Taste.

Your biggest weakness.

Humility.

Something people would find surprising about you.

I healed my myopia and astigmatism naturally.

One thing that always makes you happy.

Parties.

One thing that always makes you sad.

The fetishization of shootings in cinema.

What you’d be doing if you weren’t in the music business.

Still making music.
