Wicked's Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo Star for Xfinity

Directed by Superprime’s Alice Brooks, the movie's DOP

Is it just me or are we all counting the days until Wicked hits theaters on Nov. 22?

Comcast’s Xfinity is celebrating the approaching release with “Stay Connected to Your Dream,” a short film from Goodby Silverstein & Partners.

The ad begins with two young girls—Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo—mesmerized by The Wizard of Oz book and movie. Wicked’s iconic “Defying Gravity” plays as they perform in school plays, attend Wicked on Broadway, and watch TV so close that one girl’s skin looks green (we can guess what’s coming).

Next, there’s a segment with Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo. They covet roles in the Wicked film, Grande even tweeting in 2011 that playing Glinda would be a dream role, culminating with director John M. Chu offering them the coveted Elphaba and Glinda roles.

The stars meet on a soundstage, where a yellow brick road appears. As they clasp hands, they morph into those two young girls with big dreams.

There’s a ton of Easter Eggs in the vid, directed by Superprime’s Alice Brooks, who also served as Wicked’s director of photography.

“We set out to tell a story that showcased how the power of connection, plus a bit of technology and magic, brought these two actors together and into the roles of Glinda and Elphaba,” said Clayton Ruebensaal, CCO at Xfinity. “Connecting people and bringing them closer to incredible experiences and content like Wicked, is core to the Xfinity brand.”

The is also the first-ever 4DX spot shown across the country. Moviegoers will feel the power of Oz with synchronized motion seats coupled with bubbles, wind and lightning, in select 4DX Regal theaters.
