Bridgerton's Adjoa Andoh Stars as Mrs. Claus for Boots U.K.
Plus Uber, Sainsbury's and more Euro goodness
Santa’s workshop never looked this glam! Adjoa Andoh of Bridgerton fame stars as Mrs. Claus to help Boots ring in the festive season. As Kringle snoozes, she keeps the gifts a-coming, reminding us how often women do the legwork. “You thought it was all him?” she asks wryly. From VML/The Pharm. (You can go behind-the-scenes, too.)
Alongside Mother London, Uber hits the streets in “Cobbles.” We watch a woman called Maisie torture friends by obliging them to walk home after a night of partying … versus taking an Uber (the nearest is 6 minutes away). Maisie complains her long-suffering companions have gone soft, and of course it starts pouring. This is Old Blighty, after all. (Also see “Balloons,” where dad learns a lesson on a windy day.)
Sainsbury’s and NCA go for a “BIG Christmas” with some Roald Dahl energy. Referencing the latter’s Big Friendly Giant, the ad features BFG helping grocery store employees organize a magical feast. Also, he bops around England to transport fresh ingredients in his huge hands (and in one case, on his ears). It’s cute holiday-season stuff, packed with charming wordplay.
O2 draws attention to data poverty with “Snowing SIMs.” The initiative provides free data to those who need it most in the U.K. for the holidays. The brand worked with Good Things Foundation to make this one, with VCCP guiding creative development. It’s surprisingly poignant.
For Vive Andalucía, the Spanish region’s tourism organization, “The Surrender” channels Hans Zimmer to produce a manifesto about fear. For reasons related to election season, it’s really working for us right now. Damned be the glory this land holds within. Work by Ogilvy Madrid.
