Plant-Based Cheese Brand Daiya Coins 'FOMOO.' So, Thanks?

Adults play teens in spots from TDA

Oh grow up, vegan cheese-products purveyor!

Adults don jammies for a teen-style sleepover and get pumped about faux-dairy treats in one of TDA Boulder’s silly retro spots for Daiya Foods.

The work’s all about not missing out on taste, so ads replace FOMO with … FOMOO.

Yeah, that’ll catch on real quick.

No, really. FOMOO’s catching on. It’s already in a second commercial:

And here it is again:

It’s’ FOMOO’s world, we just live in it. (Ken Jeong’s AOK with that BTW.)

“We wanted to spark a multigenerational conversation—one that taps into nostalgia while embracing modern tastes,” says TDA ECD Jonathan Schoenberg. “By featuring adults playing teens, we highlight the sentimental connection people have with cheese, whether they’re dairy-free, dairy-curious or fully vegan.”

The stuff’s asinine on purpose. Which lends the approach a certain ooey-gooey self-awareness. It zings both tired net-speak and the bygone Hollywood/Mad Ave. tradition of casting twenty- or even thirty-somethings as adolescents.

“This campaign leans into the cultural moment, giving Daiya a distinct and relatable voice that resonates across generations,” Schoenberg says. “It’s our way of addressing skepticism head-on while creating a fun, memorable and shareable experience.”
