The Busch Guy Officiated This Couple's Wedding Last Weekend
Many (so many!) cans were raised
Burly Busch guy Gerald Downy donned his trademark flannel shirt and faded jeans last weekend to officiate a wedding ceremony. The nondenominational nuptials were held at the Glen Erin Golf Club in Janesville, Wisconsin.
Abbi Ernest, an elementary school teacher, and her new husband Andrew Roth, who works as an electrical lineman, won the pitch-dude’s participation, along with $25,000, as the grand prize in a contest Busch launched in May.
Some 400 guests attended, and the brand—which received 500 entries all told—shared content from the festivities using the #BuschWedding2019 hashtag.

“It’s hard to put into words how thankful we are for all of our family, friends, and of course BUSCH!,” Abbi enthuses on Instagram. “The Busch Guy played such an important role in our wedding and he couldn’t have done a better job!! We will cherish the memories made at our wedding forever! Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone! We are so excited to start our happily ever after as Mr. and Mrs. Roth!”
Yeah, if there’s a better way to begin life together than as the centerpiece of a brewer’s marketing campaign, we’d have to get blitzed off our asses to figure out what it is.
M&C Saatchi Sport & Entertainment and Bird Brain Productions devised the promotion. Check out some more highlights below. Those tabletop beer-can towers were certainly a loving touch that seem to sing out, “Be mine until the end of time, burrrrrrp!”
