Popeyes Shows You a Sneaky Way to Autocorrect Your Dinner Plans

Another way to get chicken instead of pizza

Popeyes keeps pwning pizzas any way it can.

A few weeks back, the restaurant chain “stalked” pizza drivers and gave customers a chance to swap their saucy pies for chicken dinners as part of a free-delivery promotion.

Today, the fast feeder and ad shop GUT intensify their war on round, cheesy Italian cuisine, encouraging fans to “borrow” family members’ unlocked phones and set autocorrect to replace the word “pizza” with the phrase “Popeyes instead of pizza.”

So, when families debate what to order, and someone texts, “Let’s get pizza,” it will appear as, “Let’s get Popeyes instead of pizza.”

Invasive much?

This video explains the hack:

Popeyes Autocorrect

Of course, once pranksters discover how easy it is to hijack someone else’s autocorrect, they would never dream of making it spew profanities or assorted other weirdness, just for laughs. Perish the thought!

Users who post screenshots of the properly altered text on social media using the #LoveThatAutocorrect hashtag get $5 off their next Popeyes Family Meal purchase. (Presumably, the offer works just as well if you get someone’s permission to change the wording, or do so on your own phone.)

“We know pizza is an easy delivery option for family dinners, and everyone loves pizza, but with the amount that people have been ordering in lately, we thought they might like a fun alternative,” says company CMO Bruno Cardinali. “These decisions usually go down in the family group texts, so Popeyes thought this would be a fun way to shake things up.”
