Twitter Puts Amusing Anti-2020 Tweets on Its Year-End Billboards

Dionne Warwick gets top billing

Now that it’s OK to be funny again, Twitter is closing out the most difficult year in memory with some levity—featuring comic 2020 hate tweets on a series of out-of-home ads in five U.S. cities.

“Please do not bring this foolishness into 2021,” says one of the tweets, from Dionne Warwick, who’s become an unlikely Twitter star herself in this most unlikely of years.

Check out more of the ad placements below. They’re going up in New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Oakland, according to Adweek—a total of 24 tweets in 49 OOH placements.

“In light of everything that’s happened this year, we are excited to amplify the humor and levity that people brought to Twitter,” Robin Tilotta, director of marketing at Twitter, says in a statement. “These are the tweets that connected and uplifted us, and we hope people join us in celebrating the end of 2020.”

The ads were produced in-house.
