#WFH Diaries: Marcus Peterzell of Passion Point Collective

As much of the world remains largely in isolation due to the coronavirus, we’re checking in with creative people to see how they’re doing. Below, we catch up with Marcus Peterzell of Passion Point Collective.

Give us a one-line bio of yourself.

I am an entertainment marketing executive who escaped the corporate clutches after 15 years at Omnicom and now have my own boutique shop, Passion Point Collective.

Where are you living right now, and who’s with you?

I am hunkered down in Westchester with my wife, one son who is in virtual law school, along with our beagle Presley, who is enjoying his six walks a day!

What’s your work situation like at the moment?

I have always had a home office, so was pretty much good to go, but I did spruce it up with a new sound system, as music gets me through the day!

Describe your socializing strategy.

I do try to connect with at least one friend or business connection per day who I have not spoken to in ages, and I’m pretty much stalking LinkedIn and Facebook daily.

How are you dealing with childcare?

Since my son is 23, he is taking care of us! We get lectures on recycling daily.

What are you reading?

There was a long piece in the Sunday Times about wartime diaries besides Ann Franks. It’s fascinating.

What are you watching?

Ozark, In the Dark, and old Star Treks.

What are you listening to?

So each day I go into my CD collection and pick three classic albums to dive into during the work day. Most recently I had Yes Close to the Edge, Traffic Mr. Fantasy, and Steely Dan Can’t Buy a Thrill. I also have an amazing local radio station here, The Peak.

How are you staying fit?

We dusted off the stationary bicycle in the basement, and walking my beagle!

Have you taken up a hobby?

Why start now?

Any tips for getting necessities?

Yes, I pay off the stock clerk at CVS.

An awkward moment since all this started.

Well of course it’s Zoom calls. I was presenting on a call on camera and my beagle decided it was time to play, so he jumps on me and I tried to keep my presentation going while throwing a bone for him … oh and my wife yelling if I had taken out the garbage out during a conference call.

Best work email you got since all this started.

Getting an email from PR Week letting me know my agency was nominated for three awards.

An aha! moment since all this started.

As I had spent all of January in the hospital (not related to Covid), I realized how much I treasure being home with my family and my “stuff” while others are loathing it.

What’s your theory on how this is going to play out?

I think many of us are going to get “Zoomed out” and tired of “Covid, Covid, Covid” and will start to create our “new normal” faster than we think.
