BMO's Holiday Carols Back Canadian Businesses

Sweet sounds of the season to stoke sales

“In Ottawa, a candle glows
In the store of Campy.
With a spark, a fragrant show—
Gift ideas so handy.”

Seasonal songs like “Good King Wenceslas” get the commercial treatment from Bank of Montreal as part of its annual “Wrap the Good” platform supporting underrepresented businesses.

If that ditty didn’t jingle your bells, dig this project spot that spoofs record/CD club advertising:

The Kringles at FCB Canada developed the initiative, called “Business Carols,” which features the requisite album on Spotify.

We’re told carolers will perform the songs live at BMO’s gift-wrapping station in Toronto’s Eaton Centre mall. Which might propel shoppers across the plaza at warp speed. (Kidding, of course. Who wouldn’t want to linger and listen?)

“We’re bringing a new holiday experience to shoppers by revitalizing nostalgic songs as a reminder of a more mindful way to give,” says Jennifer Carli, BMO’s head of enterprise brand, social and content. “As the festive season bustles with shoppers, we’re making it even easier to discover gift ideas from underrepresented businesses through our dedicated website. In doing so, we aim to make the holidays brighter for all.”

In addition to home-goods purveyor Campy Home, these businesses get the fa la las:

  • Beauty and wellness retailer Niffy Signature (“Here We Come A-Carolling”)
  • Beauty and wellness retailer Soft & Butter (“O Christmas Tree”)
  • Gift box company Black Bow Gift Co. (“I Saw Three Ships”)
  • Food and beverage retailer Apple Hill Lavender Farm (“Jingle Bells”)
  • Clothing and accessories chain My Ol’ Blues (“Out On The Housetop”)
  • Home retailer Spark Candles (“Deck the Halls”)
  • Handcrafts store The Makers Keep (“We Wish You A Merry Christmas”)
