Will Ferrell Can't Stop Singing 'Everywhere' for PayPal

Funny Fleetwood Mac attack

You’ll be so sick of Fleetwood Mac’s “Everywhere” after hearing Will Ferrell sing it over and over in PayPal’s latest campaign.

Will changes one word in the 1987 hit. “Ohh-ahh… I want to pay with you everywhere.”

Clever? You decide:

We can use PayPal everywhere. Got it. Pipe down already.

Breaking today, the work seeks to portray the service as more than “an online checkout button” when it has “evolved into so much more,” PayPal CMO Geoff Seeley tells Muse. “We set out to playfully reintroduce audiences to PayPal and show them it’s the smartest way to shop and save everywhere both online and in stores.”

Now, the brand’s banking on Ferrell and Fleetwood to drive cross-generational appeal, he says.

Developed by BBH with Gifted Youth director Jake Szymanski, the work leverages Will’s lovably obnoxious persona to maximum effect. No one plays goofy-but-peeved like Ferrell. For PayPal, he’s pure money.

Wisely, the brand keeps things simple. We learn of a 5-percent-back rewards program, but don’t get hammered by details. The notion of paying everywhere, delivered by a fab funnyman, is enough.

As for the cloying song, well, that should help sear the brand proposition into malleable brains.

It’s been a big day for SNL alums. Here we get Will, while Kristen Wiig began headlining Dunkin’ commercials.

Kristen brought along a chatty magic cow. At one point, Will rides a horse, but it doesn’t have any lines. Advantage: Wiig.
