Say goodbye to summer and hello to fall drama

Summer is coming to a close, which means things are taking a turn for the dramatic.

First, Michael Keaton comes straight from the headlines in two of the most impactful disasters from the 21st century: 9/11 and the opioid crisis. Then we get a welcome reminder that the fall scaries are right around the corner with a new haunted adventure. Finally, spirits are lifted with a bit of stage time, magical ponies and a final taste of summer.

Say goodbye to summer and take a look at some of the stories headed your way this fall with this week’s trailers and posters.

Summer Days, Summer Nights

MGM Studios
Trailer Agency: Tiny Hero

Ed Burns is back in the director’s chair, and this time he’s visiting Long Island in the summer of 1983. The trailer captures the teenage spirit through the expository dialogue and the use of colorful neon graphics. Plus, there’s the energizing music, especially the backend use of the iconic Sister Christian cue. Combined, it makes for a memorable trip back in time. The illustrated poster’s refreshing color palette epitomizes the feel of a teenage summer. Go back in time on Aug. 24.

Worth

Netflix
Trailer Agency: Project X/AV
Poster Agency: Concept

Few things are more unsettling than placing a numerical value on human life, yet that is the conflict for a group of lawyers following the 9/11 attacks. The editing and dramatic cue help showcase the moral suspense. In addition, the poster highlights the talent and the separation between everyone’s stories. See Worth on Sept. 3.

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie

Amazon Prime Video
Trailer Agency: Wild Card Creative Group
Poster Agency: N/A

Some people were born for the spotlight, and that’s the case with Jamie, a suburban kid who dreams of being a drag queen. The inspiring trailer for this musical extravaganza has shiny graphics, a sparkly title treatment, and editorial flair that calls forth a celebration of spirits. And the poster praises coming into your own. Everybody will be talking about Jamie on Sept. 17.

Dopesick

Hulu
Trailer Agency: Wild Card Creative Group

Based on the true story of America’s opioid crisis, the trailer for Dopesick is gut-wrenching. It’s a depiction of how one company, family, and drug poisoned a generation. The trailer’s cue strikes just the right chord while the editing and dialogue stitch together the key figures responsible for this crisis, as well as all its victims. Watch Dopesick on Oct. 13.

My Little Pony: A New Generation
