McDonald's Invites You to 'Confess,' Reality-TV Style
Giant box goes on tour nationwide
McDonald’s wants you to dish on your early employment experiences. So, naturally, it’s sending a giant branded booth to select cities so folks can climb inside and bare their souls.
Participants can win prizes, and there’s an online version, too.
Dubbed “First Job Confessional,” the push fuses reality-TV tropes with our ubiquitous order-kiosk lifestyles. It also tips a crew hat to the fact that 12.5 percent of Americans work at a McD’s at one time or another.
That’s a staggering stat that reflects on our culture in so many ways both pro and con. It makes the campaign set-up relatable, that’s for sure.
Below, Love Island’s Olandria Carthen shares her McD’s story and reveals that her mom also worked for the chain.
“This campaign feels like a full-circle moment because it honors my family’s journey and the first jobs that shaped all of us,” Carthen says.
Alas, CEO Chris Kempczinski won’t be getting in the booth to set atonement for his cringy social vid.
Golin, We Are Social and Bully Pulpit collaborated on the project, which runs through the summer with stops in Austin, Pittsburgh and Chicago.
