Podcast Spotlights Black Moms in Marketing and Media
Navigating the challenges of children and work
As bittersweet as goodbyes may be, “A Dose of Black Joy and Caffeine” will end on a high note. The podcast, founded by Justin Adu, will shutter in 2025 after a 10-season run. The sendoff? A six-part series about balancing motherhood and professional life.
Adu hands the reins to Neisha Tweed Bell, who has significant expertise in the branding and creative field.
“With her expertise and my established platform, we were able to bring her idea to life,” Adu tells Muse.
“Dose” focused on creatives and entrepreneurs, but Bell’s “Mamas & Mochas” is a love letter to Black working moms. The goal is to help them navigate life’s many challenges, spotlighting the ups and downs they face in the industry.
Episodes feature candid conversations with women leaders, including Droga5 president Chioma Aduba and Rich & Regular co-founder Kiersten Saunders. Topics include dealing with birth trauma, redefining work-life balance and building financial freedom.
“We aim to shed light on under-discussed topics in the workplace,” says Adu. “We believe that targeted conversations for a specific audience can have a greater impact.”
He makes clear that storytelling remains a focus, and Adu is currently exploring new avenues.
