Kristen Schaal, as a Squirrel, Joins DirecTV's Henry Winkler and Steve Buscemi
The brand's pigeons have a new best pal
Better call animal control. The yard’s overrun with spokes-critters!
Starting today, DirecTV’s wise-cracking pigeons—voiced by Steve Buscemi and Henry Winkler—will hang out with a freaky new friend.
Kristen Schaal plays a squirrel with some odd notions in new commercials from TBWA\Chiat\Day L.A. They tout the depth of DTV content and the app’s ease-of-use through home-screen integration.
This marks the third iteration of “For the Birds,” following Deion Sanders feathered appearance a few months after the campaign’s launch.
DTV believes Schaal—who honed her comic chops on Bob’s Burgers and Flight of the Conchords—will add “a whole new layer of comedic paranoia” to the proceedings. If nothing else, her squeaky, word-a-second delivery amps up the silliness and freshens the pitch.
Here’s an MLB-themed :15, sans Schall, with the pigeons detecting signs of baseball season in the air:
Smuggler’s Randy Krallman directed.
Spots will run across linear, OLV and social, with digital display, DOOH and audio elements in the mix.
