The Soaring Return of Top Gun, and the Rest of This Week's Trailers and Posters
Including Cats and the final trailer for IT Chapter Two
It’s been a BIG week in entertainment marketing. Maverick returned and brought his bomber jacket with him. We got the first glimpse of the digitally altered Cats, and it has everyone talking. Pennywise scared the hell out of us, while J. Lo took up pole dancing.

Woo-wee, this is a new take on STDs. Check out the creepy trailer for The Black String. After a man shares a night with a mysterious woman, his entire existence becomes infected with illness and madness. I appreciate the voiceover—it sets the right tone for classic horror. No pun intended. Available on demand Sept. 24.

The trailer for Hustlers has arrived, and these are some badass strippers. Things get real when the women start hustling their Wall Street clients. Crimes are committed, but respect is given. Led by an all-star cast including Jennifer Lopez, Constance Wu and Cardi B. Prepare to be hustled this September.
Playing with Fire

In the trailer for Playing with Fire, a new comedy from Paramount and Nickelodeon Films, John Cena plays an elite special-forces firefighter tasked with caring for three adolescents. Between Cena and co-star Keegan-Michael Key, you’ll be laughing. And laughter is good for the soul, so get a dose this November.
Good Boys
Universal Pictures
Agency: Workshop Creative
There’s a new red band trailer for Good Boys, and it’s just as epic as the last one. What I love most about this one is the special-shoot opening with the cast and executive producer Seth Rogen. I’m curious if we’ll continue seeing more special-shoot footage with trailers. It sparked my engagement. Bravo for upping the ante. Good Boys comes to theatres Aug. 16.
IT Chapter Two
Warner Bros.
Agency: Buddha Jones
Poster Agency: Concept Arts
The final trailer for IT Chapter Two is here, and it’s just as creepy as the first one. What to expect from the trailer—more story, more Pennywise, more red balloons, and ultimately more scares. Also, check out the newest key art, which projects fear through open space. We get the eerie point—IT’s going to be terrifying. Get your float on Sept. 6
Ad Astra
20th Century Fox
Agency: Wild Card
20th Century Fox released a new trailer for Ad Astra, and things are taking an emotional turn. You’ve got my attention. This trailer takes a more personal approach to the story, examining the father-son relationship. The violin score is a lovely complement to the emotional balance of the piece. Mission launches Sept. 20.
Cats
Universal Pictures
Agency: Inside Job
As if this week needed any more glamour, enter Cats. Broadway is coming to the big screen in this beloved Andrew Lloyd Weber classic. The trailer captures the magical feel of the story. And the song—Jennifer Hudson, sing it, girl! “A New Day.” Love or hate the digitally altered Cats, it had everyone talking—and ultimately that’s the goal of marketing. Cats comes to the big screen this Christmas.
