From Space Jam to Loki, See This Week's Trailers and Posters

Plus, Girls5eva, Those Who Wish Me Dead and more

This week we finally heard those magical words the world has been waiting for: “Eh, what’s up, Doc?” And it was well worth the wait.

The Tunes weren’t the only famous faces making the rounds this week. There was a reunion between a Spice Girl-esque pop group. Plus, one of Marvel’s favorite foes is coming to the world of streaming. Then there was a shoutout to the Insta-famous crowd, brought to you by the next generation of the Family Coppola, while another story noted the dangers of our overly profiled digital world.

As our actual social lives finally find a pulse, don’t forget what helped you through the past year: storytelling and screen time. Don’t quit them now! Here are some of the stories coming soon to a screen near you.

Space Jam: A New Legacy

Warner Bros. Pictures
Trailer Agency: TRANSIT
Poster Agency: BOND

The bitter rivalry between the Tunes and Goons continues! Fans have been waiting for the first look at Space Jam: A New Legacy since LeBron James announced his intended trip to Tune Town years ago. The trailer doesn’t disappoint. You get just enough story, just enough Looney, and the perfect dose of Daffy Duck. You also get awesomely colorful graphics, and the music remixes some Space Jam classics. There are plenty of surprise cameos from countless WB properties like GOT, King Kong and Hanna-Barbera favorites—good timing considering the recent buzz around all three properties. If you aren’t jazzed enough, check out the series of delightful character posters. Mark your calendars for July. But for now, that’s all, folks!

Mainstream

IFC Films
Trailer Agency: Mark Woollen

The generation that celebrates people who do and say nothing are going Mainstream. Gia Coppola, the granddaughter of Francis, wrote and directed this social satire that mocks the stardom standards set by the YouTube generation. The trailer is perfection—every frame, each glittering graphic, and all the emojis. The EDM music is the crowning touch. Go Mainstream on May 7.

Those Who Wish Me Dead

Warner Bros. Pictures
Trailer Agency: MOCEAN
Poster Agency: N/A

When a smoke jumper reeling from her team’s loss comes across a traumatized boy, she must use her skills to protect him from dangerous forces. The editorial sparks like a match, building until you’re left with flaming intensity—quite literally. The editing drives the action, even throwing in a pretty epic match cut. But Johnny Cash steals the show with “God’s Gonna Cut You Down.” The close-up on the poster burns with tension and emotional turmoil. The action kicks off May 14.

Girls5eva

Peacock
Trailer Agency: Big Picture Entertainment
Poster Agency: Leroy and Rose

Girls5eva imagines the reunion of a pop group phenomenon that attempts a comeback 20 years later. The trailer’s chic editing and charming graphics summon the nostalgia for platform shoes, butterfly clips and girl power. Obviously, there are plenty of giggles to be had. It feels like a blast into the Spice World past, and quite frankly, I’m here for it! The poster is a shimmering delight. Is there a such thing as too much pink? Not a chance. The girls are back May 6.
