#WFH Diaries: Emiliano Trierveiler of 72andSunny Amsterdam

As confinement continues in most parts of the world, we’re checking in with creative people to see how they’re faring. Here’s an update from Emiliano Trierveiler of 72andSunny.

Give us a one-sentence bio of yourself.

I’m a Brazilian mutt and a creative director for 72andSunny Amsterdam.

Where are you living right now, and who’s with you?

I live with my partner Hannah, our son Noah, Pepper the cat, and Monkey the monkey (he’s not a real monkey).

What’s your work situation like at the moment?

Lucky. I have a place I can hide in and a partner with Buddha-like patience.

Describe your socializing strategy.

Gentle. I invite a friend for a long walk in the park.

How are you dealing with childcare, if applicable?

Whenever I catch myself sounding like my dad, I stop the lesson.

What are you reading?

Byung-Chul Han probably has the answer to everything.

What are you watching?

Somewhere between Adam Curtis, to keep me anxious, and re-watching Star Wars, to recover.

What are you listening to?

I was given an old record collection to look after. So all the Brazilian greats: Gil, Tim, Jorge Ben, João Gilberto.

How are you staying fit?

If you mean mentally fit, a hammock. Then I run, next to my 7-year-old on the bike—for dad points.

Have you taken up a hobby?

I became obsessed with an old Nintendo game called Gradius. And took up cleaning old records with Victorian pomp and a velvet brush.

Any tips for getting necessities?

Thank the cashier. And the staff. Forever.

An awkward moment since all this started.

March. It was awkward as a whole.

Best work email you got since all this started.

When I heard that the four-day Easter break was still on, I almost cried.

An aha! moment since all this started.

Too much coffee will make a global hecatombe way worse.

What’s your theory on how this is going to play out?

I’d like to think we’ll realize what really matters. Don’t ask me what that is, though.
