A Horse Walks Into a Bar in Budweiser Super Bowl Ad
Henry Alex Rubin directed the spot
Which brand will take home the 2025 Super Clio for the Big Game’s best ad? We’ll find out on Feb. 10.
Stop us if you’ve heard this one before. Budweiser’s Super Bowl spot, “First Delivery,” stars a Clydesdale, with a keg, walking into a bar.
From director Henry Alex Rubin and FCB New York, the commercial features a foal that’s not big enough to participate in his fist beer delivery. But, when one of the containers falls off a wagon, only the foal notices. And his journey begins.
The horse—a real one, no AI here—nudges the keg up a hill, then down a hill, until he rolls into town just as a saloon customer begins the joke, “So a horse walks into a bar…”
Set to “Let Your Love Flow” by The Bellamy Brothers, the spot ends with the foal looking on as Bud’s neon crown sign kicks on.
“With the help of our beloved Clydesdales and a determined foal, this year’s commercial captures our commitment to deliver for consumers since 1876 and toasts to those who put in the hard work it takes to achieve their own goals, despite any obstacles along the way,” said Kristina Punwani, head of marketing at Budweiser USA.
The spot, originally slated to run in select markets during the Super Bowl, will now run nationwide “due to the overwhelming excitement and response from Budweiser fans,” a spokesperson tells Muse.
