Itchy Spokesfeet Walk the Talk for LinkedIn U.K.
That's some darn fine advertising
LinkedIn and VCCP London get a leg up on arch humor, bringing the phrase “itchy feet” to life in odd adverts aimed at Gen Z.
“We needed something that would immediately grab attention,” explains agency creative director Matt Lloyd. “The idea of a foot being the owner’s inner monologue felt like a fresh, surprising take—one that was both funny and informative.”
Some folks need a kick in the pants to explore new job opportunities on LinkedIn.
Call HR. They’re breaking the dress code.
You know, maybe if these desk jockeys got new gigs, they could afford shoes.
Jennifer Sheridan directed through VCCP content studio Girl&Bear. No toes were harmed in the making of these commercials. And no CGI or AI was engaged. Just real feet.
“Our hunch was to do it all for real, and we were completely sold when, in the very first chat we had with Jennifer, she’d already filmed her foot up in the air, just chatting away naturally. Silly, but totally believable,” Lloyd tells Muse.
“It confirmed we didn’t need anything tricksy, no special effects, no puppets. Just some authentic, demonstrative feet. And three cracking actors to play alongside them. In casting, everything fell into place when the actors and random feet just seemed to bond perfectly,” he recalls.
“Then we chose a few pairs of lovely, comfy, desirable socks. No grey polyester here.”
“You can see just how lo-fi the setup was,” he says. “Sometimes the simple way is the best way. Although it’s not easy to hit those comedy beats when you’re lying on your back with one foot in the air.”
