Tormund From Game of Thrones Hits Back at Will Ferrell's Super Bowl Ad for GM

Come after Norway, and Norway will come after you.

Audi Norway has responded to the Super Bowl commercial from General Motors—in which Will Ferrell is angry at the Nordic nation for beating the U.S. at electric-vehicle adoption per capita—with a trio of spots of its own, starring Norwegian actor Kristoffer Hivju, best known for playing Tormund Giantsbane on Game of Thrones.

Hivju is pretty mad himself, as well as confused and despondent, as he responds with some trash talk of his own. Much of it involving fish.

Last year, Norway became the first country in the world where the sale of electric cars overtook those powered by petrol, diesel and hybrid engines. The No. 1 model in the market was the fully electric Audi e-tron, which is the vehicle featured in these amusing Audi spots.

The “Don’t hate. Imitate” work is from Oslo creative agency POL.

“Norway is a peace-loving nation, but we strongly felt that the GM hate campaign deserved a swift response, of course with a touch of humor,” the brand says.
