Hair Extension: Kawasaki, Great Clips Offer Mullets
In collaboration with Great Clips
Which brand will take home the 2024 Super Clio for the best Super Bowl commercial? We’ll find out on Feb. 12.
Everyone looks better with a mullet. Or worse. It’s one of those for sure.
Anyway, Kawasaki’s seeking to extend its Super Bowl bounce by teaming up with Great Clips to offer 15,000 free haircuts that are long in the back but short everywhere else.
The collaboration dovetails with the brand’s very silly mullet-themed Super Bowl ad from Goodby Silverstein & Partners. That work likens the do to Kawasaki’s Ridge off-road, side-by-side vehicle, which, we’re told, rocks “business in the front, party in the back.”
Though amusing, the whole concept feels like a stretch. The Ridge is like a mullet? Really?
Ah well, it’s marketing’s biggest stage. Pedal to the metal and full speed ahead!
“Great Clips celebrates all of the different hairstyles that help instill confidence in our customers to achieve their own greatness,” says Lisa Hake, the brand’s VP of marketing communications. “Given the mullet’s continued popularity, we thought a collaboration with Kawasaki would be a fun way for fans to get ready for business and a party on the biggest game day of the year.”
Plus, Great Clips gets some buzz without shelling out $7 million for SB airtime. Cool!
The promo runs through Feb. 23. The first 15,000 fans can register to receive a free-mullet coupon at participating U.S. and Canadian Great Clips.
