#WFH Diaries: Kendall Kendall of Lucky Post

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to wreak havoc across the globe, we’re checking in with creative people to see how they’re coping. Here’s an update from Kendall Kendall of Lucky Post.

Give us a one-line bio of yourself.

I’m a wife, a mother, a senior post producer at Lucky Post in Dallas, and my name really is Kendall Kendall.

Where are you living right now, and who’s with you?

I live in Grapevine, a suburb outside of Dallas, with my husband (Joey), 5-year-old son (Owen), 1-year-old twins (Lena and Calvin), and two pound puppies (Penny and Heff). It’s a really tranquil existence.

What’s your work situation like at the moment?

I’m typically locked in our master bedroom with my computer while my husband wrangles the kids in the rest of the house. It avoids the awkward image of naked children romping around in frame on Zoom.

Describe your socializing strategy.

My social life is essentially the same as it was before the pandemic with the majority of my free time being spent with my husband and kids. Although I attend more happy hours now that they are done virtually from my sofa.

How are you dealing with childcare?

My husband is taking one for the team and watching the kids since our daycare is temporarily closed. His career is primarily in production so it made the most sense for him to step in as the stay-at-home parent while I continue working, also from home. I give him breaks when I can, and lots of appreciation. He’s a very patient, creative and fun person, so our kids are loving it.

What are you reading?

I’m an audiobook-er and I’m currently listening to Nothing to See Here by Kevin Wilson and The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt. The Goldfinch is a masterfully written story of a life forced by adversity, so not a mood lifter but it does make you reflect on and appreciate what you have. Nothing to See Here’s main character moves in with her friend whose twins instantaneously combust when agitated. I’m a twin and I have twins—damn, this one feels close to home.

What are you watching?

High Maintenance, Ozark, and I binged Tiger King along with the rest of the country. I’ll let you decide what those say about me.

What are you listening to?

Singer-songwriter stuff—Andy Shauf, Damien Jurado, Kacey Musgraves—and upbeat oldies jams.

How are you staying fit?

I’m doing literally nothing to stay fit. Lots of wine and treats happening over here. Baby lifting might count? Lots and lots of baby lifting.

Have you taken up a hobby?

I don’t have much downtime at the moment. My job keeps me busy during the day, and my family keeps me busy at night.

Any tips for getting necessities?

Where we live, we don’t have any corner stores. Luckily, we were well stocked up before the quarantine because we have so many kids—thus tons of toilet paper, snacks, hand sanitizer, Clorox wipes, etc. We are supporting mom and pop restaurants with to-go meals.

An awkward moment since all this started.

As much as I try to create a barrier, the truth is my kids are audible during most phone calls and video chats. Luckily my co-workers and clients are understanding.

Best work email you got since all this started.

An email chain from co-workers with pics of their WFH setups, most of which included animals.

Emails saying “This job is awarded!” or “Our spots are approved to ship!” or “This overage is approved!”

An aha! moment since all this started.

I’m absolutely certain I do not want any more children or pets.

What’s your theory on how this is going to play out?

If we can stay healthy, remain positive, accept that things will change, and adapt to new ways of working, then we’re going to be OK.
