Avocados From Mexico Returns, Mostly Naked, to Super Bowl

Anna Faris plays Eve in loopy commercial

Full nudity in a Super Bowl commercial? Not quite. The event runs in prime-time, after all. Still, Anna Faris and the other cast members of Avocados From Mexico’s 2nd-quarter ad come pretty close to baring it all.

But rest assured, gentle readers, the expanded cut below and Big Game :30—from agency Lerma and veteran director Bryan Buckley—leave vital bits to the imagination.

In the beginning, we visit Garden of Eden, where Eve takes a bite … of an avocado. After that, all bets are off—just like everyone’s pants.

That turned out way better than it did in the Bible!

For its eighth Super Bowl outing overall, Avocados went full-on wacky, and the commercial succeeds on those terms. The manic, vaguely subversive style never lets up. That bare-ass modern-day Utopia looks exceedingly rad. Ditto the Avocado Phones, instead of handsets from you know who. (The evil ones!)

“When I realized that the wardrobe in my trailer was a tiny little thong and these jelly-like bra things, I guess they’re just nipple covers, I thought to myself, all right, this is what my beautiful day is going to look like,” Faris tells People. “I felt really proud that I’m kind of at this place in life where I could spend a lot of time feeling modest and insecure, or I just embrace it.”

“The first time I met her, she was naked [while getting prepped for set],” Buckley reveals to AdAge. “I’d never met a major talent naked before. I don’t know if I’ve met a minor talent naked. The funniest thing was, she gave me a big hug right away.”

Sounds pretty sweet. Dude picked the right career all those years ago.
