Let's Listen to the Meow Mix Jingle for 12 Hours

Sounds like a normal pastime

What if you listened to the iconic Meow Mix jingle for 12 hours straight? At what point do you start clawing your ears off? Would you know or care what planet you’re on?

Find out after you launch the J.M. Smucker brand’s “Meow-A-Thon.” It plays a new (exceptionally annoying) version of the beloved (but irritating) meow meow meow song on a loop for half a freaking day.

Crank it up! You’ll have dogs howling all over the neighborhood.

The work’s from Meow Mix Canada, so locals can unlock 19 coupons along the way. Cat lovers in other markets can listen for … enjoyment?

“Outside of the day-to-day briefs, we’re always looking for ways to build on the things that make and keep brands iconic,” says Kohl Forsberg, ECD at Leo Burnett Toronto. “When we first shared the idea, the Meow Mix team loved how it used the jingle that’s been around since the ’80s in a way it’s never been used before.”

Meow Mix enjoys reviving the tune from time to time. Last year, we had the Tabby 5 boy-band spoof, and a 2019 push saw the track performed in styles ranging from metal and country to Latin dance.

As for the Meow-A-Thon, “The essence of this idea is that Meow Mix truly understands how deep our cat-love goes,” Forsberg tells Muse. “It serves as a playful yet meaningful demonstration of that connection. Throughout the experience, participants aren’t just earning Meow Mix cat food rewards. They’re also engaging with the brand’s full product range and building a stronger connection with Meow Mix.”
