A Scroll Stoppr, Pickles in Donuts and More April Fool's Pranks
Work from Yahoo, Azuna, Krispy Kreme and more
If you forgot, it’s April 1. Here’s your reminder to not believe everything you see on the internet. Let’s take a look at some brand gags tickling our funnybone.
Krispy Kreme x Mt. Olive
Call it gross, but if this was real we’d 1000 percent eat it. Krispy Kreme and Mt. Olive created a Krispy Kreme doughnut stuffed with a Mt. Olive Kosher Dill Spear. It’s real in your social feeds but not a real product. What is real is all Krispy Kreme Rewards members can buy a dozen original glazed doughnuts for $4.01 today.
Metro by T-Mobile
What would the scent of a new cell phone smell like? Metro by T-Mobile launched CALLoGNE, an imaginary luxe fragrance inside an old-school phone. The antenna sprays the fragrance. Eau de New Phone doesn’t exist but Metro offers no activation fees or surprise charges.
Yahoo
We all say we’ll just scroll on our phones for a few minutes and the next thing you know, it’s been hours. Yahoo has created the Scrōll Stoppr, an accessory for your thumb that prevents you from endlessly scrolling. You can’t even touch your screen with this thing on!
“Our products are built to help you accomplish your goals, not go down rabbit holes,” said Kemma Kefalas, head of creative lab at Yahoo. This product is real, while supplies last, for $4.99 on Yahoo’s TikTok Shop. Check out a campaign vid below created with Conscious Minds and directed by Alexandra Tellez.
Azuna x Buffalo Sabres
Here’s a good one for sports fans. You can’t say NHL’s Buffalo Sabres stink, because they’re in the playoffs. Buffalo-based brand Azuna created a new odor eliminator scent: The Sabres’ Locker Room. Look for notes of “23 well-worn jerseys, hard fought glory, and the sweaty aftermath of a penalty.” Fans can enter a sweepstakes to win 2 tickets to the Sabres’ upcoming fan appreciation night on April 15, plus a kit of the real co-branded Azuna x Buffalo Sabres home odor eliminators that smells like vanilla.
