Air New Zealand's Flight Safety Vid Stars NBA's Steven Adams
'Every Point Counts' in this special game of hoops
Air New Zealand tapped the Houston Rockets’ Steven Adams—the second of three Kiwis ever drafted by the NBA—to star in the airline’s latest safety video, “Every Point Counts.”
Directed by Ryan Heron of Reel Factory, the four-minute video from Bastion Shine features a group of kids playing ball against Adams, as flight instructions—about fastening seat belts and storing carry-ons—begin.
Basketball commentator Andrew Mulligan calls the game, which moves into a sold-out arena filled with fans. The action progresses, as do the safety tips. Look out for the tribute to LeBron!
Steve’s sister, Dame Valerie Adams, enters with the game tied for a surprise ending.
The vid, shown now on flights, features cameos from TikToker Theo Shakes and comedian Tom Sainsbury.
“We’re thrilled to have Kiwi icon Steven Adams join the Air New Zealand safety video whānau,” said Air New Zealand CEO Greg Foran. “His journey from Rotorua to the bright lights of international basketball has inspired countless fans to chase their dreams, making him the perfect fit to take to the court in the leading role.”
