#WFH Diaries: André Toledo of David Madrid

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues apace, we’re checking in with creative industry folks to see how they’re faring. Here’s an update from David Madrid’s executive creative director, André Toledo.

Give us a one-sentence bio of yourself.

Executive creative director at David Madrid.

Where are you living right now, and who’s with you?

An apartment in the center of Madrid, Spain. I’m living alone.

What’s your work situation like at the moment?

More active than ever, but at the same time it’s good to see that the whole team is onboard to make it work.

Describe your socializing strategy.

Lots of Zoom links, lots of WhatsApp Groups, lots of online games on the app House Party.

Also, I started to talk with my neighbor from the building in front of mine, after almost two years living here. We talk almost every day. I think soon we’ll be good friends.

What are you reading?

When quarantine started in Spain a couple of weeks ago, Saulo Rocha, the other ECD from David Madrid, sent me a book as a gift: Shoe Dog by Phil Knight. I’m reading it now.

What are you watching?

Currently watching Hunters on Amazon Prime.

What are you listening to?

It depends on the mood, but when I’m tired of my usual Spotify playlists, I’m enjoying its Discover Weekly feature more than ever. Helps to break the routine.

How are you staying fit?

I try to eat less, and to do yoga with YouTube videos a couple of times a week. Not bad.

Have you taken up a hobby?

Organizing my pantry on a daily basis.

Any tips for getting necessities?

Since this started, I ordered everything through Amazon Now. You need a lot of patience until an overvisited website works and you can check out your order.

An awkward moment since all this started.

Google Hangouts parties were weird at the beginning, but after a couple of weeks, they feel very natural now.

Best work email you got since all this started.

An email with different backgrounds for our Zoom meetings.

An aha! moment since all this started.

That a meeting can actually be an email!

What’s your theory on how this is going to play out?

Hard to tell. Let’s see what will happen in some weeks. Or months.
