M&M's Album Art Packs Recreate 4 Classic Covers

Bowie, Rosalía, Kacey Musgraves and H.E.R.

Here at Muse, we’re all about brands and classic album covers. So naturally, we’ve often wondered how David Bowie’s glam-pop epic Aladdin Sane would look if it featured Yellow M&M.

Not really. But now we know anyway, thanks to the candy brand’s “Album Art Packs” from BBDO.

Along with Yellow’s ’70s flashback, the Green and Brown M&M’s spoof/reimagine H.E.R.’s self-titled debut, Kacey Musgraves’ Golden Hour and Rosalía’s El Mal Querer.

The campaign attempts to “harness the power of music to connect people by helping them find their commonalities rather than focus on their differences, to inspire a deeper sense of belonging,” says Sarah Long, North America CMO at M&M’s parent Mars Wrigley.

Perhaps that’s a stretch, but the brand cast a diverse net with its selections, mixing artists from different eras and genres, each known for breaking barriers and transcending cultural norms.

The limited-edition packs are available at MMS.com and select retailers nationwide. They arrive as M&M’s spins a fresh groove for its mascots, focusing on positivity and personal expression. (Though for Green, perhaps, no boots = no yasstice.)
