Popeyes Celebrates Its Mention in 2 Grammy-Nominated Rap Songs
Billboards quote Baby Keem and DMX lines
Brands always perk up at mentions in pop culture, and now, Popeyes has not one but two reasons to be pleased ahead of the Grammys Awards this weekend.
Two of the tracks nominated for Best Rap Song—“Family Ties” by Baby Keem and “Bath Salts” by DMX—include Popeyes mentions. To get the attention of potential Grammy voters, the chicken chain placed billboards in Los Angeles and Las Vegas (where this year’s postponed ceremony is being held) with a note to “Consider This”—a play off traditional “For Your Consideration” messaging.
The two songs represent 40 percent of the five nominees, the billboards note, doing their best to make the math seem impressive.
Says a Popeyes rep: “The billboards were designed as a fun reminder that Popeyes, while known for their chicken mastery, certainly plays a larger part in people’s lives when it comes to providing people and families with great tasting food at a great value.”
It’s been a busy week for Popeyes when it comes to billboards. On Sunday night, when the Los Angeles Lakers visited New Orleans to play the Pelicans, the visiting team was greeted by the billboard below—a clear reference to LeBron James and his chalk-toss pregame ritual.
