#WFH Diaries: Actor Luke Brandon Field From Jojo Rabbit
As the COVID-19 pandemic gallops along, we’re checking in with creative people to see how they’re faring. Here’s an update from Luke Brandon Field, whom you last saw in Jojo Rabbit. We also have a longer interview with Luke, conducted pre-coronavirus, which you can read here.
Give us a one-sentence bio of yourself.
English actor living in Los Angeles, recently played the nastiest Nazi in the Oscar-winning film Jojo Rabbit.
Where are you living right now, and who’s with you?
Los Angeles, alone. 🙁
What’s your work situation like at the moment?
Every morning is dedicated to answering emails, conference calls and reading scripts until 1 p.m. Things are quietly moving.
Describe your socializing strategy.
Zoom throughout the day, Houseparty throughout the night!
What are you reading?
Not reading the news. Brian Southall’s Sex Pistols: 90 Days at EMI takes me to another time and place, away from this.
What are you watching?
Not the news! Just started The Spy on Netflix, which is very watchable. Started off in isolation watching the mandatory Love Is Blind and Tiger King, but have delved into my Criterion Collection subscription. Just finished watching Betty Blue—a masterpiece!
What are you listening to?
Not the news! The new Strokes album, having teasing myself with old favorites from the first three albums (and a small peppering from albums four and five). March listening highlights: John Martyn, Prefab Sprout, Linda Ronstadt, Phoebe Bridgers, JP Saxe, Baxter Dury, Miles Davis and the Wants.
Staying away from my usual faves—Nico, Smiths, Sisters of Mercy and Joy Division—to remain cheerier.
How are you staying fit?
120 press-ups per day on my new exercise machine I assembled successfully (so far).
Have you taken up a hobby?
Trying to learn how to cook, and learning Welsh.
Any tips for getting necessities?
Go to smaller convenience stores rather than the big supermarket chains. Less people and usually stock essentials—TP, kitchen rolls, wipes.
An awkward moment since all this started.
Sharing the lift/elevator with someone in my apartment building when I really needed to sneeze.
Best work email you got since all this started.
“Happy Birthday, you throw the best bday parties, this must really suck for you… hahaha.”
An aha! moment since all this started.
Last Saturday night, 10:45 p.m., I walked around my area alone. No one was out, and I realized what a beautiful neighborhood I live in.
