NewYork-Presbyterian Tells More Real Patient Stories in 'Stay Amazing' Campaign

The spots debuted at the U.S. Open

NewYork-Presbyterian dropped the latest ads under its “Stay Amazing” umbrella, telling real-life stories of New Yorkers who have overcome illness to thrive post-treatment.

Each spot tells the story of a patient prior to illness, a doctor’s plan, and the patient post-op flourishing in their element.

One longform ad features a volunteer firefighter who needed, and successfully received, a heart transplant. He’s now back on the job, helping others.

“We look for people with unique jobs and/or interests,” says Bharat Kumar, executive creative director at Havas New York, which developed the campaign. “And then we just talk with them; to learn more about them, their journey from diagnosis to recovery, and what made their NewYork-Presbyterian care truly amazing. In talking with them we find the storytelling arc. We find the emotion and visceral bits, which is what helps turn what might, at first blush, seem like ‘just’ a medical story, into a human interest one.”

Gabby narrates her own story of being diagnosed with scoliosis at 14. Corrective surgery allowed her to get back to playing softball.

Suri’s ad debuted at the U.S. Open. A young girl with dreams of becoming a fashion designer had a stomach ache that led to a myocarditis diagnosis. NYP helped her heart function properly and she’s happily sketching the next designer trends.
