Blizzard's Diablo IV Offers Hellish Help With Household Chores
The faceless one will do your laundry
A faceless, red-robed Doomsayer who mows your lawn, washes windows and vacuums? What brand of sorcery is this?
That would be Blizzard Entertainment’s Diablo IV. To hype the game’s open beta, agency VCCP launched a contest running through March 23. Fans can enter online and 130 winners will receive a $200 ThumbTack credit toward household chores and projects. Presumably, those lucky devils can then binge Diablo IV from March 24-26 and the cleaning will still get done.
We dig the freaky but domestically adept entity in this campaign video:
The #DiabloIV Open Beta is coming.
We’re giving away over $20k in @Thumbtack services to take care of your Earthly duties while you descend into Hell.

Now we know how Blizzard tidied up after painting demons all over that French cathedral to promote the upcoming release.
“Gamers have been demanding this new Diablo title for a decade,” says VCCP creative director Geoff Vreeken. “We wanted to remove the guilt from enjoying the game all weekend, so we thought we’d offer to take care of their chores while they play. Sure, they’re battling demons. But cleaning up around the house? That’s true hell. We’ll handle that.”
It’s a cute commentary on our gaming obsession—and fannish fixations of all sorts. A knowing nod that IRL stuff still needs doing, no matter how intensely fantasy worlds cast their spells.
