Spirit Airlines Gives Frankie Muniz a Window Seat

The Malcolm in the Middle star likes the aisle, too

Don’t call him a middle man.

Like all right-thinking humans, former sitcom star Frankie Muniz prefers a window or aisle seat when he flies.

Spirit Airlines obliges, trading on Frankie’s Malcolm in the Middle fame in zippy spots from Tombras and director Dave Canning.

The work breaks this week, touting Spirit’s “Go Comfy” travel option that provides extra space and comfort.

Naturally, the carrier hopes tapping into 2000s nostalgia will boost the message.

Muniz really sells it. He shows his prime-time chops with a deliciously self-aware performance.

The campaign’s humor feels unforced (or at least welcome) and attuned to both the brand message and Frankie’s enduring image in pop culture.

When he starts raving about his free drink and snack—”Oooh, ginger-ale!”—it’s tough not to smile.
