Yetis Spread Cheer in Olipop's First Holiday Commercial
Oli and Pop share the love with skeptical neighbors
Olipop soda launched its first holiday campaign this week, tapping a pair of Yetis to spread cheer. But first, they need to stop inadvertently scaring everyone.
Oli and Pop are just like us: they go caroling, ice skate and attempt to give gifts. But people flee whenever they’re nearby. The creatures even turn to a self-help book—So You’re too Scary for the Holidays—for advice.
When they leave behind their sack of Olipop colas, a young girl realizes the duo just want to be a part of their world.
Soon, locals are partying in Yeti hats and cracking open Olipops with the beasts’ pictures on the cans.
Callen created the ad, which was directed by Screen Novelties and produced by Passion Pictures. Clearly, Rankin/Bass served as an inspiration.
“The storyline was designed to reflect Olipop’s brand ethos of celebrating individuality and bringing people together through joy,” says Olipop CMO Matt Bruhn. “The Yetis, who appear intimidating at first glance, are shown as clumsy, sensitive, and well-meaning, which makes them lovable and relatable. Their journey of discovering that their true charm lies in simply being themselves was a metaphor for the holiday spirit—embracing imperfection and celebrating authenticity.”
The Yetis will appear on holiday cans of Vintage Cola and Ginger Ale, and we might see them again in other seasonal and holidays work.
“The campaign is a key part of its broader strategy to position the brand as not only a healthier soda alternative but also as one that brings a fun and festive spirit to everyday moments,” Bruhn tells Muse. “It’s also a great example of how Olipop is merging nostalgia with innovation to appeal to modern consumers looking for healthier options without sacrificing taste.”
Ads are running across TV and social media.
