Posters From Amazon Put Small Businesses in the Picture

Now playing at premium locations in NYC

Peter Pan Donut & Pastry Shop is ready for its close-up. Hometown Bar-B-Que, too.

Amazon Ads and Anomaly obliged by putting the Brooklyn-based small businesses in Hollywood-style posters that just went live around Penn Station in NYC.

Peter Pan gets the throwback family-film treatment from artist Sam Hadley:

And a Wild West vibe, courtesy of Neil Davies, whets appetites tangy BBQ:

So, why pick those businesses to spotlight?

“Although small in size, they both have a huge history and presence in their neighborhoods,” Anomaly creative director Diego Fonseca tells Muse. “Having been in the area for decades, both businesses have a rich story to tell. This gave us a lot to work with when building the world for our movie posters, with each poster drawing on the lore and backstory of the business.”

How so?

For Peter Pan, “The poster captures the nostalgic charm of mid-century Americana, evoking the playful, feel-good vibes of 1950s and ‘60s family films,” Fonseca says. “The design aligns perfectly with Peter Pan’s heritage as a business founded in the ’60s, with its iconic pastel uniforms and retro aesthetic. It creates a sense of timeless comfort and whimsy, inviting viewers to step back into an era where simple pleasures, like a donut, could spark joy.”

And the sagebrush saga for Hometown Bar-B-Que?

“We leaned into Hometown’s reputation as an authentic Texan outpost in the heart of New York,” he says. The Western-themed poster was inspired by Hometown’s arrival in Brooklyn in 2013, with the founders ready to take on the food capital with their authentic Southern BBQ.”

In retail terms, the posters are designed to build interest and foot traffic for the establishments by giving each a starring role on par with premium OOH placements enjoyed by Hollywood blockbusters.
