With YouTube's NFL Sunday Ticket, Fans Will Feel Right at Home

From ace director Lance Acord

You grew up in Buffalo, worshiping the Bills, but moved all the way to Miami, where the Dolphins reign supreme. Now, you’ll never be able to turn on a screen and watch your fave NFL team play home games ever again. Boo-hoo!

Is that what you think? Srsly?

In fact, you can paint your face red, white and blue, curl up on the couch, and catch the live action—even from 1,000s of miles away—thanks to NFL Sunday Ticket. The package, featuring out-of-market games, begins a 7-year run on YouTube this season.

Playful promos from legendary commercial director Lance Acord show a Bills backer treks across the blazing sands of South Florida, Chiefs devotees quiver in the Raiders’ infamous Black Hole, and 49ers fanatics mosey through Cowboys country.

Despite such indignities, they still peep their beloved but distant squads doing battle every weekend.

“Whether you’re an Eagle nesting in the land of Giants, or a crusading Saint, holding your own in a village of Vikings, with NFL Sunday Ticket on YouTube, it’ll feel a little more like home,” says the ad above.

Developed by an in-house team, the work packs chill visuals and sly humor. Its quirky takes on displaced fans prove pleasingly effective.

“It all came from the insight that it’s not easy being an out-of-market NFL fan,” says YouTube executive creative director Christian Haas. “If you live away from where your favorite team plays, you can’t watch their games on TV.”

“We wanted the campaign to resonate emotionally with people who found themselves in these fish-out-of-water situations when it comes to their NFL fandom,” he says.
