Matt and Tommy, tell us …
Where you grew up, and where you live now.
I was born in Cali, Colombia, but spent the majority of my childhood in Miami, and high school in Cincinnati. I now live in Milan, Italy.
Your earliest sports memory.
My dad watching televised AC Milan matches on weekends, and the two of us watching World Cup matches.
Your favorite sports team(s).
AC Milan, the U.S. National Men’s and Women’s Soccer teams and the Miami Dolphins.
Your favorite athlete(s).
This is way too difficult. It’s like asking me to pick a favorite child.
Your favorite sports show or podcast.
I used to watch The Dan Patrick Show every day but once they switched to Peacock, Good Morning Football became my morning show while getting ready for work. In terms of podcasts, I’m a fan of SBJ Morning Buzzcast because it gives me the major sports business news in under 12 minutes.
Your favorite sports movie and/or video game.
Air, because it combines my love for sports and marketing.
A recent project you’re proud of.
Our “Giroud as a Goalkeeper” stunt. Our goalkeeper got a red card in a game and striker Olivier Giroud ended up as goalkeeper for a few minutes. He made an incredible save and we won the match. Our team used the opportunity to have a little fun selling a Giroud goalkeeper jersey, which sold out.
Someone else’s project that you admired recently.
Really loved the Ben Affleck and Matt Damon Dunkin commercial for the Super Bowl. This was a genius campaign because they ended up selling the shoes and tracksuits. They commercialized it beyond coffee and donuts.
Something coming up for your organization that you are excited about.
Next season is our 125th anniversary. We have some incredible projects lined up for that.
What sports can do that nothing else can.
Major sporting events, such as the Olympics or World Cup, bring together nations in a way that transcends politics, promoting a sense of global unity and friendly competition.
What you’d be doing if you weren’t in the sports world.
Attempting to rescue all the senior dogs from shelters.
