2 Minutes With … Jeremy Mitchell, Founder of Mitchell Bat Co.

On sports providing a sense of community

Jeremy Mitchell holds two decades of experience in the creative advertising world. A self-professed “maker,” he has spent most of his working life putting things together for people, including apps, websites, videos, photographs and music. And now he even paints baseball bats.

We spent two minutes with Jeremy to learn more about his background, his creative inspirations and recent work he’s admired.

Jeremy, tell us …

Where you grew up, and where you live now.

I grew up in Hendersonville, Tenn., about 20 minutes from Nashville, where I currently make my home.

Your earliest sports memory.

The 1986 World Series Game 6. Bill Buckner, playing for the Red Sox, had the third out roll under his legs. The Mets ended up winning the World Series the next night.

Your favorite sports team(s).

Cubs, Braves, Yankees.

Your favorite athlete(s).

Michael Jordan

Your favorite sports show or podcast.

The Chris Rose Rotation by Jomboy Media

Your favorite sports movie and/or video game.

Field of Dreams

A recent project you’re proud of.

I have recently added 12 college licenses to Mitchell Bat Co., including the University of Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Louisiana State University and more.

Someone else’s project that you admired recently.

Anything that shoe designer Mache puts out is amazing.

What sports can do that nothing else can.

Sports give me a sense of community and camaraderie. As a huge baseball fan, that inspired me to launch a baseball bat company. Through it, I can 100 percent relate to my customers more than any other type of industry I’ve ever worked in.

What you’d be doing if you weren’t in the sports world.

Getting a lot more sleep.
